It's been 3 weeks since Loven is treating Lilet so cold. And it really makes Lilet bewilder because she doesn't know why Loven is treating her very cold. She thought that Loven is not interested in talking or seeing her anymore.
When classes were dismissmed, Lilet saw Loven running towards the gate of their school, she walked towards Loven to ask if why Loven is in a hurry that time.
"Hey!" Lilet said.
"Hey there!"
"What's the rush about?"
"I have to meet someone."
"Oh, I see, who's that person?"
Loven got pissed. And said, "Argggh! Why do I need to tell you everything?! Are you my mother?!"
"I'm not but I'm just your best friend. I'm just concerned about you."
"I gotta go."
Next morning, after the encounter with grumpy Loven, Lilet woke up very early and went to school very early. She thought she needed a friend to comfort her in that time. So, she went to her school very early to see and to talk to her two other best friends, Judy and Harlie.
While wearing a fake smile, Lilet entered their room. Then, she sat between Harlie and Judy.
"What's with the fake smile?" Judy asked.
"Am I that transparent?"
"Hell, yeah!" Judy and Harlie answered.
"Okay, you got me. It's about Loven, I don't know why he's treating me so cold."
"Aww, you are so outdated about the current events here Lilet. Didn't you know that Loven had just got a girlfriend?" Harlie hesitantly answered.
Lilet gulped a big seed of what she had heard about her male best friend a.k.a. childhood friend slash crush, Loven just had a girlfriend. And now, she knew why Loven is giving her a cold shoulder. Minutes later, their class started.
After some time during their discussion, Lilet felt she was been called by nature, and asked her professor for a permission to go to the toilet.
"Excuse me sir,may I go to the comfort room?" Lilet asked her professor
"Go ahead."
And Lilet went to a cubicle in the toilet to pee. When she was still inside the cubicle, she accidentally heard two girls gossiping about Loven and his girlfriend.
"Poor Loven, he didn't knew that he was just being played by a girl." said the girl with a husky voice.
"You bet! He's a fool. He failed to recognize the true color of Merriam." said the girl with a soprano-toned voice.
"And oh, the bastard boyfriend of Merriam, Leroy, didn't know that he was being cheated." said the girl with a husky voice
"I agree! That's how clever Merriam is." said the girl with a soprano-toned voice.
"HAHAHAHAHA!" The two girls laughed.
The two girls talking didn't know that there was someone eavesdropping them. And the eavesdropper's name was Lilet. The two girls are not cautious about their conversation that someone might just be listening to them. After that cruel laughter of the two girls, they went back to their respective classrooms. On the other hand, Lilet was just pretending that she wasn't done peeing and after knowing that the girls went out of the comfort room, she went out also and went to her classroom.
Lilet felt mixed-emotions after hearing a gossip. She was confused of her feelings about Loven, whether to be happy that Loven might split up with Merriam or to be sad that Loven didn't knew that he was being fooled.
Lilet was on her way home, when she decided to text Loven.
"Hey! Aren't you busy?"
Message sent.
Lilet was having a hard time sending that message to Loven. She thought that it would be useless sending it if Loven won't reply. But somehow, winds changed its course, Loven replied to her message.
"Uhm. Yeah. A bit. Why?"
Sender: Loven
"I want disturb you for awhile. Can we meet tonight at the mall we used to see each other?"
Message sent.
The breathing pattern of Lilet changed, her sweat become uneven and she is feeling uncertain. She wasn't expecting that Loven would not reply after their bad encounter.
"Sure. I'll go."
Sender: Loven
Hours passed, Lilet is now facing the mirror to check if she's presentable to see Loven. Lilet then hailed a cab to go to the mall they planned to meet. Lilet thought that Loven would be alone meeting her. But her thoughts about it vanished, when she saw Merriam holding the arms of Loven.
Loven's eyes met the eyes of Lilet. Lilet waved her hand. And now the couple was heading towards the bench where Lilet sat.
"Oh, Hi Lilet! I want you to meet my girlfriend, Merriam. Merriam this is my best friend, Lilet" said Loven.
Lilet stood up and shook the hands of Merriam.
"What are you going to tell me Lilet? I guess it's so important that you made me go here."
"Yeah, can we talk for awhile, just the two of us?"
"Oh, sure. Sit for awhile Merriam, we'll just talk." Loven said while smiling at Merriam.
Merriam is just quiet, she nodded after hearing it. Loven and Lilet walked away from the bench and they talked.
"What is it that you want to tell me?" Loven asked.
"I'll go staight to the point, Merriam is just playing you. Her boyfriend just didn't know that she has an affair with you."
Lilet answered.
"Where in the world you got that news Lilet? And do you think they're reliable?"
"I just heard it from the two girls talking in the toilet this morning. I... don't know."
"I don't believe you. I can't accept that as a truth because it's just a gossip! You eavesdropper!" said Loven. He thought that Lilet was trying to ruin his relationship between Merriam. Then, Loven went to Merriam leaving Lilet crying. Lilet warned Loven but Loven didn't believe in her.
The night turned into a doomsday for Lilet. She lost his best friend's trust and everything. She was crying until she got home. Her mother asked her why is she crying but Lilet didn't answer her mother. Instead, she went to her bedroom immediately.
On the other hand, Loven had a bad night also. When he went back to check Merriam, he saw Merriam talking with a man he didn't knew. Loven asked Merriam why is she talking with that guy, Merriam's answer was, " He's Leroy, my current boyfriend." Loven felt his world was falling into a very deep pit. Loven wanted to hurt Merriam for playing with his emotions but he was stopped by Leroy. Leroy punched Loven. Loven fell butt first and he walked away to avoid making a scene.
